About

An ever-learning technical designer

Having discovered that what I enjoy doing to help my teams is considered technical design, I've been pursuing improving my skill set along that path while branching out where I can. This includes constantly communicating between various departments and understanding the multiple different pipelines, establishing with programmers how certain gameplay features are implemented and integrated, communicating with designers about the complexity of certain features, creating tools to help others save time, extending the functionality of existing systems, and covering some missing roles to an extent (such as doing technical artist/animation state machine work). My favorite title though is just "the guy that helps", because that is as accurate as it gets. I help others focus on doing what they're great at doing by picking up what they aren't so great at or filling in gaps where we have them. Finding out that there was a title that perfectly fit what I was doing and enjoyed doing is one of the greatest moments in my game design career.
